crocheting the holidays away!

Just realized that it's been almost two months since I last posted...but things have been a teensy bit crazy lately! I've moved and it's been the holiday season! I couldn't post much of what I was doing anyway since all of the crochet I did were gifts and I didn't want anyone to peek! However, everyone has seen their gifts now so it's time to show my progress in crocheting!

The first blankets I did were baby blankets for two adorable little boys! They are the same pattern with different color variations and I am absolutely in love with them both!

I had some kitten help while I was trying to photograph this one...sometimes I think she loves a little too much!

The pattern is called Basket Weave and it was a great first blanket pattern because all it consists of is double crochets, but it is amazing! It hides basically every imperfection in my stitches and it made me look like a waaaaaay better crocheter than I actually am!

I also had a 10 year old Chargers fan on my to-do list, so I hunted down the correct colors (since I'm not a football fan myself) and then found a great sporty looking way to color change! I went out of my yarn comfort zone and used the Red Heart Super Saver for this one...I'm still on the fence. I could definitely tell that it was a lower quality and it made my fingers hurt when I was crocheting because it is sort of rough. It did come out of the washer and dryer much softer, but I'm debating whether or not I'll use it again. It came out really nice, and it's absolutely HUGE. It was a simple double crochet for the entire blanket.

My last project was for my sister, she picked out her own colors and then handed it off to me. This one was my pride and joy and I just barely finished it on time (actually I'm still wrapping up the border), but it turned out stunning and I'm so pleased!

Anyway, that's all for now! I'm so glad to be able to finally show off my favorite new skill! Remember my crooked coaster two months ago??!

Until next time, hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and has a safe and happy New Year!
