a couple of side projects!

So, yesterday I decided that I desperately needed a place to actually DO anything crafty that might pop into my head...as it stood, I was just using the kitchen counter - not very effective or conducive to saving space since we have such little counter space as it is. I'm wondering what I can do when I remember that there is a desk sitting next to the door downstairs waiting to go to the dump! It's a little beat up, but mostly just needed a good solid cleaning.

Perfect, right? The keyboard tray fits all of my papers and notebooks and whatnot (for now) and it gives me my very own space to work! I also have a beautiful view right in front of me.

And I added all the important things, grumpy cat mug of sharpies and shot glass of tacks, and of course my fabulous air plants and my totally 90's family photo!

Last tidbit, I decided I was going to learn to crochet...I thought it would be a great way to fill nighttimes when I'm laying in bed with a glass of wine and thought "how hard can it be?!" Definitely had to flag someone down at Hobby Lobby once I got into the crochet aisle because I was so confused. Anyway, the lady was very helpful and recommended lots of good stuff! I found a set of 8 crochet hooks on sale for $11 and grabbed a thing of yarn (is it called a skein? who knows!) and tried my hand at it last night (after watching about 11 million youtube tutorials!) and this was the result!

By no means stunning crochet work, but at least its recognizable as more than a lump of yarn! Yay!
