my newest obsession!

Hello everyone!

It has been forever since I've blogged and I figured that now is a good time to start again, since I have a brand new obsession! Anyone who knows me knows that I go big or go home whenever I'm trying something new - and this is no exception. I have become completely and utterly obsessed with makeup, hair care, skincare, anything beauty related. I've always been a super low-maintenance gal when it comes to beauty products. Drugstore hair, makeup and skin products. I owned one eyeliner, one mascara and one eye shadow that I use every single day. Same with hair - one shampoo and conditioner and I blow dry it straight. Every. Single. Day. The most intensive thing I do is maintain my eyebrows.

I decided that I was going to try a ipsy, a monthly beauty subscription service. And then I decided to try Birchbox. And Glossybox. And BoxyCharm. Yeah, I know. No need to tell me how ridiculous I am - my boyfriend and sister already have (multiple times).

I will get into those more in a different post as they arrive (so far I've only received my Birchbox). I'm going to do some comparative posts, one on ipsy vs Birchbox (both $10) subcriptions and one on Glossybox vs BoxyCharm (both $21).

I ordered some products from Sephora and Ulta and I realized that my tiny bathroom with zero storage was already overflowing, so I did what any girl would do and I found a solution! For anyone that has read previous posts, you'll remember when I took a desk slated for the dump and turned it into a craft desk. Since my only crafting lately has been crocheting in front of the TV, the desk hasn't been getting any use.

Here is a little reminder of what the desk looked like when I rescued it from its sad fate. I decided to make it into a vanity! With the help of my dad, we sanded it down, removed the keyboard tray and foot board and painted it a glossy white. I bought a large mirror to prop against the back, and small mirror for makeup application and a little lamp and makeup tray. I spent less that $75 and it turned out gorgeous!

It looks like a completely different unit and I am THRILLED with how it turned out. And my favorite part? The price. You can't beat free (well, almost free - I did pay for the accessories)! The mirror was $37 at Target! $37?! It's gorgeous and I love it! The little mirror was $12 at TJmaxx.

This lamp is ADORABLE. It is a two-piece 'build your own' at Target, each piece was $12. I'm so excited because the base is fillable! I don't know what I'm going to put in it yet, I'm thinking since it's my vanity lamp, maybe used-up makeup products, but we will see!

This little makeup tray is by Bino Acrylic and it was $12 at TJmaxx and I'm super happy with the quality of it. They carry a bunch of different sizes and styles for really reasonable prices, so I'll definitely be going back if I need more!

These pieces I already owned. The little jar with the product in it used to hold my air plants (RIP) and the mason jar used to hold...I have no idea. Something on my craft desk. The brushes are set 514 (Italian Badger Brush set) from Crown Brush and I only paid $40 for the 10pc set. And I love them!

That's pretty much all I've got for now! I have a billion things I could ramble on about, but I'll cut it short! I should have my ipsy vs Birchbox post up within the next week (ipsy tracking tells me it just arrived at the post office this morning), and hopefully my Glossybox vs BoxyCharm up by the end of next week (they have both shipped too!).

Until next time, namaste!
