fourth of july weekend and RIB COOKOFF!! (lots of pictures!)

First, apologies in advance for the rush of posts in the last couple days...when I don't post on a regular basis it eventually sends me into a posting frenzy to catch up!

Looks like I'm only a bit behind getting to my Fourth of July weekend post! What an incredible weekend it was all around! I knew that I would have the 4th off (as my place of work is closed that day), but I didn't ask for any time around it off...my awesome boss gave me the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th off! And an opening shift on the 3rd! I got to spend three whole nights at our lake place and it was awesome!

This is it! It may not seem like much to some people but it is OURS - we have lots of friends and family with their own places out here, it is a private area (no public beach access), it is quiet and peaceful, and we have the biggest party deck ever!

We spent the fourth just relaxing, my mom, dad and sister were all able to come up, as was one of my best friends and her beautiful 10 month old baby boy. Here are some pictures from the fourth:

My gorgeous lil sis ^

My bestie and my uncle!

My dad...this is from a series of pictures I kept snapping, he was giving me the "what the hell do you keep taking pictures for?!" look....

Myself and my honey...he hates the camera (if that wasn't obvious)

My mama, always setting the table, bringing food, making sure everyone else is taken care of! The consummate hostess!

Aaannnnd at this point we might be slightly inebriated. Maybe. Slightly.

Anyway, the fourth was great, but the fifth was where the real action was. I've got two words for you:

RIB COOKOFF. Should that be three words? I don't know. And furthermore, I do not care. There were four contenders this year (unfortunately my excellent cook of a boyfriend was unable to compete this year, as he had to return to work). It was tons of good food, beer, and a bit of mouth burning, as some of the ribs were HOT. Here are some photos from that portion of the weekend:

Here's this little cheese-ball enjoying his new pool!

Let me take a selfie!

Little sis and her boyfriend ^

This was his first time in the lake....he was unimpressed.

^^ this might be my favorite picture from the entire weekend!

And of course, the table of ribs! Whoop! Everything was delicious and delightful. I ended up slightly drunk (who me? no way!) after eating because of the heat of some of the food. I also tried some ghost pepper jelly...not for the faint of heart, but I would do it again any day! All in all, it was a fabulous weekend filled with great friends and family, great food, great weather. What more could someone ask for from a long holiday weekend?
